Reveal Drawings
These drawings – like the Recall series – use a remembered moment, place or experience as the starting point for open-ended drawing in colour. In their making, the image isn’t only a recall but reveals something new as the work takes on a life of its own.
Each is made with Caran D’Ache Neocolor II water soluble pastels on A4 Clairefontaine 250gsm mix media paper. These allow great flexibility to the process as well as vibrant controlled colour.
As I moved from Surrey to Oxfordshire the imagery has changed. The landscape of the Chiltern Hills’ escarpment, the raking light across a small lane, the view through a room, the glimpsed garden from a window, have all contributed to these reveals.
